Recently, the topic of robots has been a hot topic. Before, Youmei acquired KUKA group, a German robot giant, and then a beautiful robot with high face value appeared in Davos in summer. This makes people have more expectations about how the robot industry will develop in the future.
I'm afraid the two beautiful robots are the most eye-catching ones in the just concluded Summer Davos Forum in 2016. As soon as the beautiful robot "Jiajia" developed by the University of science and technology of China and the female robot chihira AICO of Toshiba company of Japan appeared on the stage, numerous topics were triggered, and the media named them "high-value robot" and "goddess robot". Netizens could not help but sigh: "now even robots have to look at their faces?" In fact, in the design of robot, appearance is important, but the most fundamental thing is what it can do for human.
At present, there are mainly two kinds of robots, industrial robots and service robots. Most of those beautiful robots are service robots. Although the public is more interested in service robots, today's global robot market is mainly industrial robots, accounting for 80% of the market share. In the global industrial robot market, China has gradually occupied a large market share. According to the statistics of the international robotics Association, in 2013, China sold 37000 industrial robots, up 60% year on year, surpassing Japan as the largest market of industrial robots in the world. In 2014, 57000 industrial robots were sold in the Chinese market, an increase of 56% over the previous year, accounting for about a quarter of the total sales in the global market. It has become the world's largest industrial robot market for two consecutive years. In 2015, the sales volume of domestic industrial robots continued to grow, with the annual cumulative sales of 75000 units, a year-on-year increase of 54%. Although the growth rate dropped significantly compared with the previous two years, the development of China's robot industry is developing rapidly under the background of the overall slowdown of macroeconomic growth.
At the same time, China is also the world's largest consumer of industrial robots, accounting for almost half of the global industrial robot market. In 2014, China's industrial robot market demand will reach 70000 units, accounting for 56%. The number of industrial robots in China is also increasing. It is estimated that the number of industrial robots will exceed 130000 by 2016. But in this huge number, two-thirds of the robots purchased are made in foreign countries.
At present, more than 70% of China's new industrial robots rely on imports. The application field of high-end robots in the domestic market is almost monopolized by foreign brands, while the domestic robots are mainly handling and loading and unloading robots, which are at the low end of the industry. Foreign leading enterprises regard China's market as the "main battlefield" one after another, establish production bases in China, and seize the commanding heights of industrial development with their existing technological advantages. Some core components of domestic robots are mainly imported from Japan, the United States and Europe. All these factors make our robot industry be controlled by others for a long time. "If domestic robots still can't find accurate market positioning in the next five years, they will soon be eliminated from the market, no matter how big the cake is," said Dr. Dun Xiangming of Robotics Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University
In the face of these problems, the state has also implemented many policies to support the development of China's robot industry. In May 2016, the national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the "robot industry development plan (2016-2020)", which put forward the development goals for the next five years. A relatively perfect robot industry system will be formed, and the technological innovation ability and international competitiveness will be significantly enhanced. At present, we can see that with the implementation of national policies, robot industrial parks have been established all over the country, and robot intelligent manufacturing industrial parks in Shenzhen, Hunan and other places have risen. The advantage of the industrial park is that it can concentrate resources, incubate and cultivate small and medium-sized technology enterprises with development potential, and play the leading role of leading enterprises to gain more competitiveness for enterprises. In addition, Chinese enterprises are also seeking cooperation with foreign enterprises. If the acquisition of Midea and Kaku mentioned above can be achieved, it will also provide creativity for the development of China's robot industry.
It can be predicted that various types of robots will occupy all aspects of our lives in the future. The popularity of the robot industry is by no means a flash in the pan. What Chinese enterprises need to do is to improve their R & D and innovation capabilities, occupy the international high-end market, and grasp the golden age.
